Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pleaded with opposition leader Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party not field a candidate in the upcoming Embakasi South by-election.
Kalonzo instead wants Raila's party to support Wiper candidate Julius Mawathe in the spirit of the handshake.
Addressing the press after chairing the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, Kalonzo said he has reached out to Raila for support.
The former Vice President said Embakasi South seat belongs to Wiper.
He said the seat is the only one occupied by Wiper in Nairobi.
"I have reached out to my brother Raila Odinga to support us in the Embakasi South by-election," Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo said Ford Kenya has agreed to Support Wiper in the by-election.
He said Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) party will not field a candidate in the by-election.
Last week, Jubilee party said it will not field a candidate in the by-election.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is among the Jubilee politicians who have declared support for Mawathe.
The Embakasi South parliamentary seat was declared vacant after the Supreme Court nullified Mawathe's August 8,2017 election on grounds it was not free and fair.
The by-election is set for April 5.
