Speaking on Wednesday, the tough-talking CS warned the schools against cheating in the national examinations as he revealed his plans to travel to the county.

He said that scores of schools in Migori County had had their results annulled by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) over widespread cheating.

"Tomorrow I am travelling to someplace in Migori where they cheated. They cheated as a complete block and we nullified results of over 20 schools," the Education CS said.

The CS said that the Ministry of Education would pitch tent in the county to ensure that there would be no cheating and that those who engage in the vice are identified and charged.

Rooting out cheating in the national examinations was a key focus during Prof Magoha's tenure as head of Knec.

He has vowed to relentlessly crack down on it even as Education Cabinet Secretary.

Over 30 schools across the country were found to have engaged in cheating and solicited money from parents to facilitate the vice in 2018.

Magoha said that meticulous interventions were in place to consign exam irregularities to the past.
