Over the weekend, over 140 MPs met in Naivasha where they reportedly discussed about the Building Bridges Initiative report.

However, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen now says the group is keen to start a new political party, ahead of the 2022 elections.

"A political movement that’s to metamorphose into a a political party is in the offing. That’s what Naivasha retreat was about. BBI was a convenient excuse. Katiba guarantees this right to freedom of association. Come out of closet," he said.

A section of the MPs who attended the meeting warned against ignoring the Tangatanga wing, arguing that they will move around the country to popularise the BBI document.

“We cannot be ignored. This is a movement and the focus is Wanjiku. We’re coming up with views that are not discussed in the ODM rallies and we will be meeting more frequently,” Pokot South MP David Pkosing said.

“We don’t understand why BBI memoranda are presented to Mr Odinga instead of the committee,” Pkosing added.

Kipkelion West MP Hillary Koskei said they will hold their own rallies since they are not happy with the trajectory the rallies held so far in Kisii, Kakamega and Mombasa are taking.

"It is about expanded executive, three-tier government and nobody bothered to talk about the issues affecting the common person. We come from regions that depend on agriculture and nobody is talking about that. Politicians will have to be patient so that we elevate the issues affecting the people,” Mr Koskei added.
