Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru is the latest leader to weigh-in on President Uhuru Kenyatta's Sunday outburst.
Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, an agitated Uhuru tore into a group of Jubilee politicians whom he accused of engaging in early politicking and disrespecting him in the process.
Uhuru who spoke in his Kikuyu dialect promised a retaliation, with Waruguru now saying that his language choice is proof that he was addressing his Mt Kenya backyard.
She noted that Uhuru's decision not to use a national language proves wrong those who think he had a hidden goal and might have been attacking his deputy William Ruto.
"The president spoke in Kikuyu meaning that the message was directed to Mount Kenya region and if his message was meant for the rest of the country then he would have used the official languages," she said on Citizen TV's Day Break on Tuesday morning.
The MP who had also been part of the group that has been accompanying Ruto in his cross-country engagements defended the DP from claims that he has been engaging in politics.
She instead claimed that the DP and the team have only been responding to attacks from their rivals, adding that they should not be castigated for associating with the DP.
According to Waruguru, the DP was presented to them by none other than Uhuru himself, when he declared him his handyman.
"We do not politic about 2022 rather respond to our critics and opponents who have a habit of bashing us every now and then. The reason why Mount Kenya people and I have an association with the DP is because the president named him to be his handyman," she added.
