In a tweet on Monday, Murkomen said that the county boss has not violated any bail term as stated by the Director of public prosecution, Noordin Haji.

Sonko named Ann Mwenda to deputize him after he was blocked from accessing office over the alleged misappropriation of Sh357 million. Murkomen said that Sonko was only barred from accessing office and not discharging his duties as county boss.

"Going by our earlier interpretation of the Court of Appeal decision, Gov.Sonko has not violated his bail terms by appointing a Deputy Governor. In any case, there is no connection between appointments and protection of evidence relating to DPP’s case," he tweeted.

Haji had warned the county boss against appointing DG and setting a parallel office after the court's declaration.

He has now promised to move to court to challenge the nomination of Ann into office. Haji insists that Sonko has no power to nominate a Deputy Governor after he was arrested and charged in court over graft.

“We will move to court to challenge this move. The court was clear on what Sonko cannot do. To purport to have power to name a deputy while his case is still on is a violation of the bail terms given to him,” Haji warned.
