According to Maraga, the alleged insubordination by the executive has been extended to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where he frequently receives his guests.

The CJ said he cannot access the VIP lounge despite the fact that he's third most powerful government official in the country's constitutional set-up.

"The Judiciary, for instance, is not able to host visiting Chief Justices in these facilities. I am blocked from accessing them," he said.

"I don't think even the DP knows the existence of ground VIP. I am not complaining but I am forced to wait for my guests at crowded section," added Maraga.

Letters addressed to him, he claimed, are signed by junior goverment officials despite the fact that it's against the protocol.

"Even letters of invitation to the Chief Justice are signed off by very junior officers, in complete disregard of protocol."

Maraga has now asked the state to respect the office of the Chief Justice, adding that he's not serving at the mercy of certain individuals.

"The Office of the Chief Justice is an integral part of the state structure and I am exercising a mandate that is bestowed on me by the Constitution, through the Kenyan people.

"I am not serving at the pleasure of a few people in the executive who are bent on subjugating the Judiciary," said the President of the Supreme Court.
