A section of social media users had claimed that the MP was sick, a discussion that caused panic among his supporters for the better part of Sunday.

But in a phone call on Sunday, Momanyi said he was okay and discharging his parliamentary duties as usual.

"I am not sick. Who is saying that? I think he must have mistaken me for someone. I am healthy and I thank God for that," said the second term MP.

Momanyi added: "Infact I am leaving for Rwanda. We have a Parliamentary Service Commission seminar in Kigali which will last for an entire week."

Mr Momanyi serves in the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission, a post he clinched after months of battling with the Orange Democratic Movement party.

According to him, his bid for gubernatorial seat in Nyamira is unstoppable, adding that he will ensure service delivery to all regions.

"I will be running for the seat and this will be a serious campaign. People deserve better service delivery, something that I am focused to do."

Momanyi is expected to face former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Walter Nyambati, Joseph Kiangoi among other top contestants.
