Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has spoken on the ongoing claims about an alleged plot to oust Deputy President William Ruto's allies holding Senate leadership posts.

This follows claims that plans are in place to replace the group, including Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Majority Whip Susan Kihika, with more neutral persons.

But Mwaura says that achieving the plan might be a tall order, given that the DP's team dominates the lower house, which will make it easy thwarting the plan, if indeed it is there.

"I don't have much information about the plan but what I know is that the Senate is more lenient towards the Tangatanga side. (Sijui zaidi kuliko hilo swala lakini kile najua ni eti bunge la seneti liko upande wa Tangatanga)," he said.

He made the remarks in an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi on Saturday morning.

Emerging details have also indicated that similar changes will be made in the National Assembly, with Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali being among the targets.

Mwaura, formerly an ODM nominated MP, expressed worry that Ruto's allies dominance in the house might see embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu remain in power.

He observed that given that the impeached county boss is also a member of Tangatanga, his colleagues in the house will most likely come to his rescue when he appears before the house.

"I will be keen to ensure that the same team is not used to rescue Waititu. As Kiambu residents we don't want him. (Hata hii mswada ya Waititu nitaangalia sana Tangatanga isije ikatumika kumsaidia. Sisi watu wa Kiambu hatumtaki)," he added.

Mwaura, formerly a nominated ODM MP, was nominated in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket and has been a leading critic of Waititu.
