Plans are in place to make Kisumu city more beautiful, despite the already ongoing transformations, including the expansion and renovation of the Kisumu Port.
A new plan dubbed "Revitalizing Kisumu's Waterfront" seeks to bring in more, including the putting up of an amphitheater of global standards, as part of the city Waterfront Project
Also in the plan is the construction of a footpath connecting the amphitheater to the lake and the face lift of three major roads within Kisumu's Central Business District (CBD).
There are also plans to put up an 18-hole golf course, a cultural centre, and a 4-star hotel, all near Lake Victoria, in a bid to make Kisumu a more attractive tourism hub.
Confirming the plans, Governor Anyang' Nyong'o said the pending transformation will be of great importance on matters development.
"This will be the key to urban renewal and show the epitome of development, making Kisumu attractive to commercial, conference and cultural tourism,” he said as quoted by Nation.
The project will be carried out with the Sh790 million recently received from the World Bank.
