A Kiambu man was on Wednesday arraigned in court to face charges of attempted rape.
Michael Karanja Wairimu was arraigned before Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo, and charged with attempting to rape his grandmother.
The prosecution told the court that Mr Karanja committed the crime within Banana Township a fortnight ago.
The judge was told that the accused unlawfully made attempts to assault the complainant sexually, contrary to the Sexual Offences Act of 2006.
The accused denied the charges before the court, denying claims that he did the said crime on October 10, 2019, as was claimed by the prosecution.
He was also charged with a second count of committing indecent acts on the complainant, with the court hearing that he also touched the complainant's private parts with his hands.
The second count was also allegedly committed at the same place at the same time as the first charge.
The judge released him on a Sh100,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount, setting January 3, 2020, as the date when the case will be heard again.
State Counsel Donnex Ongira told the court that he has lined up 5 witnesses who will testify in favour of the complainant.
