Nine pupils of St Gabriel's Academy have died following a grisly accident near Mwingi town on Saturday night.
The school bus, which was travelling from Mombasa collided with a truck a few minutes to midnight, leading to the death of eight pupils, with 27 others seriously injured.
One pupil succumbed to injuries Sunday morning while being taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital, raising the death toll to nine.
The nine students were among 50 passengers, who included their teachers.

Kitui Central OCPD Muthuri Mwongera said the bus was hit by the truck on the right side and the pupils that died were seated on that side.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence to the families of nine students who died in a road accident.
President Kenyatta said it was unfortunate that the lives of innocent pupils who are the future of this nation were lost.
“It is indeed sad and unfortunate that we lost those we look forward to securing the future of our great nation,” said President Kenyatta.
The president has wished those who have been admitted to various hospitals quick recovery.
32 students are admitted in Mwingi Level Four Hospital, six of them in critical condition while 26 are in stable condition.
Five have since been transferred to the KNH.
