Nominated senator Millicent Omanga reportedly wrote to PSC demanding to be allowed to fly in business class.
In the matter which was discussed in July 14th and rejected, Omanga claimed that it has become difficult for her to travel in the economy class due to her body size.
“It is true the Senator wrote a letter which the commission rejected on the grounds that we cannot give everyone who is well-endowed special treatment. This will give other MPs with different challenges to put demands on us,” a senior official told the Standard.
But senate clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye refused to comment on the matter due to sensitivity.
“It would not be in order to discuss details between the commission and the members with a third party or give documents.”
Curiously, Omanga has denied knowledge of the letter despite being the origin.
“I am not aware of what you are talking about,” she said when contacted.
During World Cup in Russia, Omanga's photo ignited debate as Kenyans demanded to know why MPs travelled at taxpayers expense.
She was rewarded senatorial seat after unsuccessfully running in Jubilee primaries for Nairobi Women Rep seat.
Mrs. Omanga was president Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigner in Nyamira and Nairobi Counties in 2017.
