Olympic 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto escaped unhurt after a Tuesday night road accident along the Eldoret Kapsabet road, near Eldoret International Airport.
According to the police, Kipruto was driving the vehicle, a V8 Lexus, when he hit a moving tractor from behind, damaging his front wheel.
The world 3,000 m steeplechase champions, together with the occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
The vehicle was towed to Langas Police Station in Eldoret, awaiting further investigation.
Only a few weeks ago, Kipruto stunned the world when he won the Diamond League in Zurich running in one shoe.
Last month, Kenya lost one of its elite short distance races in Nicholas Bett, who was involved in a road accident as well.
The 2015 400m hurdles World Champion died in a road accident in Nandi County.
