Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is under pressure to resign after an Administration Police lorry was on Saturday spotted offloading charcoal at Daraja Mbili market within Kisii town in Kisii County.
Locals have now demanded the immediate resignation of Mr. Matiang'i, given that charcoal business is illegal.
"There is nothing Matiang'i is doing in office. Let him resign because he has failed to end dubious dealings in the police force. How can a police lorry ferry charcoal which the government declared illegal a few months ago? It is high time Matiang'i should go home in peace," noted James Nyang'au.

Jackson Nyakundi said it was not the first time the lorry was ferrying charcoal to the area.
"Police have been harassing traders on grounds that they are engaging in illegal businesses yet they are the ones ferrying illegal charcoal. Matiang'i should quit office in peace failure to which we will protest to evict him forcibly from office," Nyakundi said.
Florence Nyasuguta accused Matiang'i for imposing tough rules on matatus so that police can use official lorries to ferry charcoal.
"No one is above the law. Matiang'i must go home since he has failed to streamline the police force," said Ms. Nyasuguta.
