President Uhuru Kenyatta is under pressure to dissolve Nyamira County following Auditor General Edward Ouko's adverse opinion on prudence in resource management which affects 2016/17.
Already, a petition is making rounds on social media being powered by Youth Leader Beavon Magare and by Saturday evening, hundreds of people had joined calls to have the county dissolved.
Former Senator Okong'o Mong'are accused Governor John Nyagarama of corruption and incompetence, adding that residents will have no choice other than making difficult decisions in future.
"He is corrupt and incompetent. We are losing millions to his relatives and that's why the Auditor General raised a concern. We are now being forced to make difficult decisions," he wrote on Nyamira News Updates WhatsApp group.
His sentiments were echoed by seasoned politician and lawyer Nyambega Mose who accused the governor of promoting nepotism and clanism in the County Government of Nyamira.
"As a county, we shall not sit and watch these kind of mediocrity. Our people are suffering because of one person and his honchos. We must be ready for tough decisions even if it involves dissolution."
The Auditor General raised a red flag over the wastage in the county, a move that could have the county missing equitable share following the statement by Senate PAC under Moses Kajwang.
Governor John Nyagarama has struggled to stamp his authority since 2013 with corruption, nepotism and clanism being major attributes linked to his leadership.
