Maangi speaking on Monday at the market when he joined the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) for Infrastructure Dr Chris Obure to inspect the construction of the facility said once the market construction will be completed it will accommodate about 2,000 traders.

"Traders will move to the modern market once construction is complete thereby clearing the current congestion along Daraja mbili road which exposes traders to accidents," he said.

According to Maangi, the construction of the market is near to be completed and the opening of the facility will be in July this year.

He challenged traders to be embrace patience as the contractor is working around the clock to finish the remaining part.

Maangi who has declared his interest to run for the Kisii county top seat maintained that the project should not be politicized because it is meant to benefit traders.

"Traders will be able to operate throughout even during the rainy seasons thus generation of income will be continuous and taxes to the county," he noted.
