At Suneka on Thursday, buoyed by local leaders, Ruto said that his focus is on delivering promises Jubilee adminstration had lined up towards last year's polls.

“The time for party matters, politicking and who should be in which position is over and whoever is interested in joining the race should wait for me ahead. I’m not afraid,”  he said.

The two leaders have been warring with Ruto's camp accusing Raila of using handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta to undermine him.

At the function, Mr. Ruto who is ending his Kisii tour on Friday, insisted that Raila's push for referendum is geared towards creating more seats, a move he says could further plunge the country to inevitable economic crisis.

"Let them come up with referendum question and we interrogate it. We are not cowards. Some of them want to create more positions," he added.

On Friday, Cherangany MP Jushua Kutuny wrote to the speaker informing him about a bill to amend the constitution to accommodate more people into government.

Raila insists that Ruto's attacks towards him are out of 'fear' over the ongoing crackdown on graft, a campaign he says was agreed upon between him and President Uhuru.
