The ODM leader has been critical of formations within Abagusii leaders, often accusing a number of them of taking advantage to hoodwink the community for their own purposes.

At the event, Bosire's every sentence was almost followed with thunderous reception, with his audience probably supporting his sentiments.

The former Kitutu Masaba MP called for genuine unity among Abagusii leaders and the people, adding that development should be the uniting factor.

"If we are to move together as an item, the unity ought to be genuine. It must be based on development virtues and not selfish interests," he said.

Abagusii people, he said, have struggled to speak in one voice due to chest thumping and unaccommodating nature of some leaders.

"For us to survive in this journey, we have to stop chest thumping and accommodate other people. It's through divergent options that we all learn and pick the best path," he said.

All speakers at the event called for unity of purpose as the region aims at voting as a block for the first time since 2002 when Simeon Nyachae contested for presidency.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, who attended the function, said he's ready to work with all leaders for the purpose of developing the region.

"And as you've all said, we shall stick together and develop Kisii and Nyamira Counties. Retrogressive politics cannot help our people at all," he said.
