Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is among the few Kenyans who have openly declared interest to vie for the presidency in 2022.
The outspoken governor who is serving his second term on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket has been strongly supporting the handshake and criticising the president’s critics.
What got the attention of many is his recent political friendship with ODM leader Raila Odinga. Their friendship was first witnessed during the recent Kibra by-elections when the governor supported the ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
Due to his bromance with Raila who is DP’s political nemesis, he has launched a political feud with the DP’s camp.
Besides, he has launched presidential ambitions something that the DP has also done. The governor feels that he has to stand out on his own and build a formidable political agenda that will attract masses.
His anti-Ruto politics are driven by the passion to prove to his supporters that he sticks to one decision all along.
He wants to ensure that his presidential ambitions are not jeopardized by any political tides. On most of his press briefings, he has been issuing sentiments that have been seen by many as attacks on DP Ruto’s brigade.
He even claimed that the DP and some of his confidants have threatened him to stop anti-Ruto politics or face the music.
However, speaking to the media outside the DCI headquarters on Monday, mutual maintained that he won’t calm down soon and that he is not mentioning the name of any politician on his political podiums.
