Police officers in Murang’a are investigating an incident in which a university student reportedly killed his estranged lover’s son.
The detectives on Sunday arrested the third-year criminology student at Murang’a University of Technology as probe into the matter gains momentum.
Confirming the incident, Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said that the deceased had injuries in different parts of the body including the face and head.
The suspect led the police to a thicket where they discovered the body of the deceased.
The student admitted to having murdered the boy while alluding that he had been possessed by evil spirits before he committed the crime.
The suspect is expected to be presented in court and charged with murder.
“The suspect led our officers to the area where he dumped the boy’s body after committing the crime, he claimed that he had been possessed with evil spirits. He will be charged with murder,” Mr Kinyua said as quoted by Nation.
The mother of the deceased had reported the disappearance of the kid on December 5 before he was traced to the thicket. The suspect had gone missing for some time thereby leaving the woman suspicious of his recent change in character.
