The visit was part of a program championed by his charity foundation.

The visit came after images of the girls emerged on social media with the students trekking a long distance to fetch water.

This caused outrage on social media with Kenyans accusing the government of neglecting the students.

During Ababu's visit, the school management called for the ministry of education to support the school's infrastructural development due to the high population in the school.

Despite the adversities facing the school, the CAS Ababu Namwamba encouraged the students to work hard and register better grades.

Namwamba said his visit was to asses the projects initiated by the government.

Namwamba said he has started mobilizing resources for both Kolanya girls and boys schools.

"Now we have started mobilization of resources for a water project for the two schools," stated Ababu.

Ababu shared  flowers and chocolate bars to Form Four students and delivered a motivational talk themed 'love for your task' which under the mentorship program of the Ababu Namwamba Foundation (ANF)

During the visit, the CAS disclosed that the Ministry of Education was in the process of availing Sh5 million for the school’s infrastructure as promised by Deputy President William Ruto last year when he presided over the mega Harambee at Kolanya boys high school.
