A section of County Assembly Speakers from the Rift Valley region have called for the resignation of Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
The Speakers from 10 counties in the Deputy President William Ruto's backyard claims Tuju has failed in executing his mandate.
Addressing a media briefing in Eldoret town on Saturday, the County Assembly bosses led by Uasin Gishu's David Kiplagat issued a 7-day ultimatum to Tuju to resign.
“We are giving him seven days to apologize or else we will stop subscription fee we are making to the Jubilee party until a proper meeting is called by all leaders so that we can decide the way forward in terms of the governance structures of the party,” said Kiplagat.
"Any official in the party should know that Jubilee has its owners and we are the owners. Any statement purported to be done by the official from Jubilee Party should be in support of the leadership of Jubilee," he added.
The County Assemblies that were represented include Baringo, Turkana, West Pokot, Transzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeiyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru and Samburu.
Calls for Tuju's resignation follows his recent utterances that DP Ruto was not the automatic presidential candidate of the ruling party, a move that has not gone down well with Ruto's allies.
