Garissa Township MP Aden Duale now says that some people are using the rejected report on contraband sugar to fight him politically.
Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Saturday, Duale said calls by some people asking him to resign over the sugar report are malicious and meant to frustrate his work as the Leader of Majority.
Duale claimed that some people want to take up his job and are doing everything to tarnish his name.
"I know people who want this job (Leader of Majority) and are using every trick to make me look bad," he said as quoted by a local daily.
The Leader of Majority said that he will not be intimidated by critics.
Duale stated that he is committed on the Jubilee government agenda, adding that his work in Parliament will not be compromised.
The Garissa Township MP maintained that MPs rejected the report on illegal sugar because of the many gaps it had.
He dismissed claims that Parliament has been compromised but welcomed the ongoing investigations over alleged bribery involving some Members.
Duale is among MPs who are on the spot over the sugar report that was rejected in Parliament.
The Garissa lawmaker led MPs in shooting down the sugar report a week ago and some politicians have been calling for his resignation over claims that he failed to provide direction.
Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi last week invited investigating agencies to probe allegations that some MPs pocketed Sh10,000 as a bribe to reject the sugar report.
