The kids who were captured on a video that went viral on social media eating raw Sukuma wiki in a neighbour’s garden at Nyatieko Kisii are now recovering at Kisii level 6 Hospital after well-wishers came in their rescue.
Reports say the Kids 4 in number, aged between 4 and 9 were abandoned in the hands of their helpless grandmother, malnourished, going days without food and terribly jigger infested.
Addressing Journalists in Kisii on Wednesday, Kisii County Minister for sports Duke Mainga Echate who rescued the kids and took them for treatment said they are in stable Condition.
“The kids are doing well, they are playing well and we look forward to helping them all through till they stabilize. We will find a better home for them or negotiate with one of the children’s homes within Kisii to admit them,” He said.
Their Mother is said to have escaped in fear of arrest. Mr. Echate said they are hunting for her and pleaded for well-wishers who might be having a clue where she is to give a report.
“We are still looking for the mother who ran away and we ask anyone who might be knowing where she is to inform us,” He said.
