In the recent months, the media has been awash with reports indicating that the relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is headed to the rocks.
Political pundits have repeatedly observed that the newfound love between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga was the cause of the bad blood between the President and his deputy.
Some politicians have even gone to the extent of claiming Uhuru had made an about-turn on his pledge to back Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid.
All these developments have led to some Kenyans believing the Jubilee party top leaders did not see eye to eye.
But on Friday, Ruto came out to make it clear that the relationship between him and his boss was still strong and intact.
In his statement during Uhuru's 57th birthday, the DP used carefully chosen words to deliver a 'sweet' message that left critics surprised.
Referring to him as a 'friend and confidant', Ruto observed it was wise of the President to reach out to his political opponents to unite the nation and build on his legacy.
"Happy birthday to @UKenyatta, an able leader. Your astute stewardship and focus to ensure good for man and country has won you recognition. God's wisdom as you unite Kenya and build a formidable legacy. My friend, confidant and boss many happy returns of the day!" the DP wrote on his official Twitter handle.
