Former National Assembly speaker Farah Maalim has criticised Supreme Court judges for taking too long to deliver rulings on gubernatorial election petitions that have so far been brought before them.
In a social media statement, Maalim faulted Chief Justice David Maraga and his supreme court bench for what he termed as 'snoozing on their jobs' instead of conclusively dealing with tall pending petitions.
"Power comes with responsibility &accountability. Supreme is taking inordinately long time to dispose off Gubernatorial cases. The urgency of determining the Presidential petitions must not be lost out at the Gubernatorial level. Maraga SCOK is snoozing on the job. Conclude matters!" Maalim tweeted.
Among the several gubernatorial petitions that are still pending at the Supreme Court include the Dr Alfred Mutua's of Machakos, Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi's among others.
Early this year, Farah Maalim had filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the Garissa Township legislative seat but later filed for withdrawal of the case citing personal interest.
