Octopizzo on Monday responded to a tweet by one of his fans who genuinely asked him what he would change in Kibera if he became the area MP.

“@OCTOPIZZO uka get MP for Kibra utachange what? Swali roho safi (If you got the Kibera seat, what will you change? A genuine question),” posed @1murage.

In a straight and firm response, Octopizzo said he does not want to be an MP for Kibera. He explained that he is using his platform as an artist to talk about challenges Kenyans face.

“Staki kua MP (I don’t want to be an MP). Not all Leaders are politicians and all politicians aren’t Leaders, Artists should be the mouth piece or mirror of their communities & should always be aware of their social challenges, & am using my platforms to address & bring to attention the challenges,” his reply tweet read.

Ken Okoth is the current MP for Kibera.

Murage’s thought that Octopizzo could become an MP in Kibera could have been inspired by the fact that the 12th Parliament has two MPs all who have deep roots in the entertainment industry.

They are Starehe MP Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar famed for his Kigeugeu track and Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie alias K.J who was a comedian.

The two MPs when campaigning last year said that their bid to join politics was inspired by the need to have leaders of substance represent their constituents in Parliament.
