According to Daily Nation, Key on the agenda in the Tuesday meeting was the alleged rebellion in the party.

A section of Wiper party members is pushing for Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's removal as chairman.

Kibwana is accused of frustrating Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid by working with the latter's political enemies.

The party also discussed the upcoming Embakasi South parliamentary by-election.

Julius Mawathe has been given the party's nod to contest in the by-election.

Mawathe's August 8, 2017 election was nullified by the Supreme Court on grounds that it was not free and fair.

Wiper has called on ODM party to back Mawathe in the by-election.

In the closed-door meeting, Kalonzo's party is said to have deliberated on the recent formation of Peoples Empowerment Movement (PEM) by Ukambani governors.

The movement has been equated to a political tool aimed at fighting Kalonzo's dominance in Ukambani region.

The meeting also discussed the alleged wrangling between Ukambani governors and the MCAs.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is currently embroiled in a tussle with MCAs over the county's supplementary budget.

The MCAs have refused to approve the supplementary budget.

Political analysts argue that Kalonzo is facing a rebellion in the region, a situation that could cost him his 2022 presidential bid.

The meeting's resolutions are yet to be made public.
