Sadness engulfed Homa Bay residents as cancer warrior Emmanuel Otieno popularly known as Jadudi was laid to rest in Oyugis on Friday.
Jadudi died early this month after battling brain cancer for several years.
Many who interacted with him called him a cancer warrior.
He died on March 4, 2019, while undergoing treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (Russia) in Kisumu.
The Africa Cancer Foundation (ACF), termed the deceased a legend.
“We regret to inform you that Jadudi, a.k.a Emmanuel Otieno succumbed to brain cancer at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital, Kisumu on the night of March 4, 2019. He was a real Shuja! May God rest his soul in eternal peace and comfort his family. ACF mourns Jadudi.”
Kisumu County First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o, who doubles up as ACF Director eulogised the late Dudi with special words.
"Jadudi touched so many lives with his courage and positive spirit. His warm smile and encouraging words, his determination and enthusiasm will forever be missed,” she said.
In May last year, Jadudi’s family appealed to Kenyans to help bring him back home after a series of unsuccessful surgeries to remove a tumour in his brain conducted in India.
Before that, Kenyans had helped raise over Sh6 million to help him receive treatment in India.
