The former Vice President has been seen closer to the president lately, a dalliance that caught the public eye when he accompanied Uhuru to Garissa county on December 13.

He on Sunday told the Nation that should it get to a point where his union with Uhuru is necessary for the well being of the country, then he is ready to join hands.

He added that the two of them have for long been working together, suggesting that he would not reject a continuation of the same for the sake of the republic.

“The President and I don't need an introduction. We have been friends. If this long-lasting friendship can translate into better and inclusive management of our country for the benefit of all Kenyans, I am in the game," he said.

The leader also insisted that his bid to succeed Uhuru in 2022 remains intact, a dream he said will not be distracted by anything.

Mudavadi lashed out at his former ally and ex-Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who has since crossed over to Deputy President William Ruto's side and has been attacking him since.

Khalwale has been among Ruto's allies who have been pushing Mudavadi to work with the DP, who they say is the president in waiting.

However, Mudavadi, also a former Deputy Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition Government, has termed such calls from an idle political broker, calls he says he will not pay any attention to.

"I am too busy consolidating my presidential candidacy to be distracted by an idle broker,” he added.

Should he stick to his vow, Mudavadi will be taking his second shot at the top seat, after his failed bid in the 2013 polls.
