Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi impostor was on Tuesday arrested by police officers.
The impostor, Zoberion Kinoti was arrested in Maua in Meru County.
He had opened a fake Facebook account, using the details of MP Mwirigi, through which he used to con residents.
He lied to residents in Maua that he could give them jobs and even money.
When someone falls for his fake promises, he would ask him/her to send him some cash to make their request come through.
The arrest was made after Mr Mwirigi reported to the police that someone was conning people using his name.
Residents had confronted him asking why he defrauded them yet he never fulfilled the deals.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the youthful MP stated that Mr Kinoti had been asking his victims Sh4,000, and at some cases, he asked Sh150,000 claiming that he would give them jobs in Igembe South.
The fake Facebook page was opened in 2017. This was shortly after Mr Mwirigi won the Igembe South parliamentary seat.
The suspect was arrested while enjoying himself at Kinoro market in Imenti South.
He was found in possession on several sim-cards and ID cards.
He is being held in police custody awaiting to be arraigned in court.
