Former Kigumo Member of Parliament Onesmus Kihara Mwangi has died.
Mwangi served as Kigumo lawmaker for two terms between years 1997 and 2007, before losing his seat to former MP Jamleck Kamau in the 2007 general elections.
He succumbed while receiving diabetes treatment the Nairobi West Hospital on Thursday morning, his Personal Assistant (PA) Macharia Muthathai told K24.
Muthathai said that the politician has left behind an Sh5 million hospital bill, which area MP Ruth Mwaniki has embarked on seeking help to settle.
The PA has since written to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi for help, as she seeks to help raise the money to pay the bill left behind by the fallen leader.
Before joining the political arena, Mwangi worked in the Ministry of Public Works as an estate surveyor, between 1971 and 1978.
He was later posted at the Nairobi City Commission, which is now defunct, as an estate superintendent.
Onesmus Kihara Mwang was also the managing director of Kihara and Company Valuers between 1975 and 1997.
He first secured his parliamentary seat on the Democratic Party (DP) party and successfully defended it on the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) party, which he decamped to before the 2002 general elections.
