The Nairobi Central SDA church was on Saturday closed owing to unending wrangles between warring factions of congregants that have been running for weeks.
Police officers were deployed at the church to keep order, after which services were suspended and congregants told to worship at the nearby St George's Secondary School.
This comes only a few days after the church leadership expelled 15 church members over allegations of fuelling the fighting, a decision that was announced on Wednesday.
According to Central Kenya Conference President John Kiragu Ngunyi, in a letter to all churches and pastors, the group will no longer feature in the church membership.
“This is to let you know that the persons named do not belong to the Seventh Day Adventist faith and their names were dropped from our books,” reads the letter, according to the Standard.
The fighting has since seen prominent members of the church, led by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi and Chief Justice David Maraga change churches.
