Kisumu county governor Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o has thanked the people of Kisumu and the church for their prayers when he was away for treatment.

Speaking at St. Paul’s ACK Ratta where he joined the congregation for the Sunday thanksgiving ceremony, the governor expressed gratitude to the residents of Kisumu and the church for standing with him at the time he needed their support and prayers the most.

He affirmed his resolve to serve Kisumu County and transform it to the next level as it is clearly and elaborately outlined in his manifesto.

The Governor was taken ill on January 12, 2019, during the installation of Rev. Philip Anyolo as the new Kisumu archbishop at Uzima University in Kisumu County.

He was rushed to Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu before being flown to Nairobi hospital for further treatment. 

Despite his illness, Governor Nyong’o has been rated severally among the top county managers who have made significant transformations in their respective counties.

 He was ranked best performing county chief in county service delivery survey done by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) in a report that was realised on November 28, 2018.

The governor who is currently in good health assured Kisumu residents of improved infrastructure and service delivery during his tenure in office.

He asked them to stand by the government just like they have done in the past. 

Nyong'o also asked the church to continue offering support to his government including prayers and guidance so that they can together realise the set goals.

Nyong'o was accompanied by his deputy Dr Ochieng Owili and cabinet members of Kisumu County government.
