They said the dogs have wrecked havoc in Kangundo market thereby posing danger not only to locals but also little children.

Some of the residents who spoke to this writer said the Machakos County Government should find a way of getting rid of dogs without owners in the market and its environs.

Led by Stephen Mwaka, the locals said the canines roam in the market and dumping areas unattended.

"We appeal to the county government to find ways of dealing with the situation before it gets out of hand," Mwaka said.

He said the dogs bark at passers-by thereby posing risks to the residents of contracting rabies due to dog bites.

"Injections after being bitten by a dog with rabies are very expensive and the disease is deadly if not treated immediately. The more need for them to be eliminated from the market, we are afraid of letting our kids outside to play," he said.
