The family of murdered Moi University medical student Ivy Wangeci is still reeling in shock over the gruesome murder of their daughter.
Wangechi was killed by Naftali Kinuthia who has been described as a stalker who could not take no for an answer.
It has been a story of pain for the family to accept that their firstborn daughter, a future doctor, is no more.
Her father said they are more pained that nobody from the suspect’s family has seen it necessary to condole them.
“Although he was familiar with Kinuthia’s family, nobody had contacted them even to pass condolences,” the Standard learnt during an interview.
The family is now preparing to bury their daughter at their Othaya home on Thursday.
Wangechi’s body was transferred from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary to Kenyatta University mortuary.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been discharged from MTRH where he was admitted after a mob attack after he meted out a scandalous attack on Wangechi on April 9.
Police have since taken him in for processing of murder charges.
Police said they will hold the suspect over the weekend and charge him on Monday.
Eldoret East Divisional Police Commander, Lucy Kananu confirmed the incident.
"Once he records a statement, it will become clearer what charges he will face in court," Kananu said.
