Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Monday showed that he still has political muscle when he landed at the Burma market along Jogoo Road.

Raila, together with a host of ODM leaders, were coming from the home of the late Assistant Minister Oduya Oprong when he decided to make a stopover at Burma market.

His presence thrilled supporters at the Burma market and sent them wild.

Shouts of Baba! Baba! filled the air as Raila struggled to address them.

So animated were the supporters that leaders had to request that they allow Baba to now proceed for lunch.

“We appreciate your reception and we will plan to come stay with you longer. Now, we request we allow Baba to go for some nyama,” James Orengo told the wild crowd.

Raila was at Oprong’s home to condole with the family after the demise of the ex-assistant minister.

Raila’s reception at the market is likely to send a strong message to his rivals and critics who were ruling him out of the 2022 politics.

While running for the top seat in 2017, the opposition fashioned Raila as having one bullet – meaning he was running for the presidency for a last time after trying and losing three times.

After he failed to capture it, it seems his soldiers still want him to run, again.

Speaking in Kisii on Saturday, May 25, his elder brother Oburu Odinga said Raila still has the energy to take on his rivals in 2022.

“Our party must field a candidate, but in my opinion, Raila is still energetic and is up to the task,” Oburu said.
