Ledama said that his claim can be confirmed by the Director of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. "Do you know in the rank of corruption who is leading in corruption? It is the presidency, my friend. Yes! The Ministry of Interior. Take the phone right now and call the EACC chairman, he will tell you in the rank, number one is the Ministry of Interior, " a fiery Ledama claimed.

The Ministry of Interior is headed by the tough-talking Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika backed the Narok Senator's explosive claims and called for investigations to be carried out by the EACC on the ministry.

"When you talk about the Ministry of Interior being corrupt, I am not surprised because we have been reading it in the papers. Police choppers are being fueled for 112 million shillings, " Kihika said.

Corruption continues to be a big issue in Kenya with counties and government departments coming under scrutiny over the misuse of public funds.

The EACC is investigating claims of corruption in government with the aim of pressing charges against the culprits.
