Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been traversing the country as he prepares to launch his presidential bid ahead of the 2022 polls, Josphat Kosgei a political analyst has said.
Kosgei notes that Moi's bid is likely to face opposition in his backyard as the region has already declared support for Deputy President William Ruto who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after his term comes to an end in 2022.
The political commentator, however, opines that there are certain strategies that the Kanu party leader can put in place to counter the DP's forays in the vote-rich Rift Valley region.
“Senator Moi should seek to resonate with the people by attending social functions like his nemesis, exploiting any possible chance of endearing himself to the region,” said Kosgei.
He further advised the senator to launch several political projects in the region, which he can use as his campaign tool in 2022.
“The DP's home turf is not easy to penetrate but the tact KANU leaders should employ is to focus on a political way of reinventing popularity, and driving into the region by creating a friendly ground that will subsequently woo a section of voters to support his presidential bid,” he added.
