The 2022 political drums are already beating as the country's heavyweights prepare ground for the looming political battle.
With President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga's political relationship hitting an all-time high, there are all indications that the duo could enter into a political deal going into the next general election, at least going by the most recent political intrigues in the country.
At one point, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru declared that Mt Kenya is ready for Raila presidency. And as a key Building Bridges Initiative ambassador, a Raila-Uhuru political marriage could be a matter of when rather than if.
So the President and former Prime Minister enter into a political marriage, there is no doubt that the alliance will be a formidable force to reckon. But why?
Raila is one of the most influential politicians Kenya has ever produced. For nearly four decades, he has been right at the centre of the country's politics.
Known as the enigma of Kenyan politics, he has become the master of political reinvention, Raila can never be written off politically in any given situation. And going forward, the former Lang'ata MP is the man to watch especially after his handshake with President Kenyatta which has already shaken Kenyan politics.
On his part, President Kenyatta could be play a leading role in the 2022 presidential election. His any move will tilt the political scales. And with his dalliance with Raila,the likelihood of a political deal cannot be ruled out.
With a section of Central Kenya region already falling out with the Deputy President William Ruto, Raila could be the option for the region.
Whatever happens, the Raila-Uhuru alliance will be a political Tsunami of some sorts and anyone who stands on their way will be swept aside, unable to recover again.
