Speaking during the funeral of the ex-VC on December 28, 2019, Olago said that Justice Odek and Prof Otieno had met at a golf club two weeks before they died.

Olago further said that Justice Odek was introducing Professor Otieno to golf and none lived past two weeks after they met.

"The coincidence that most of you wouldn't know is that two weeks before the death of Professor Otieno, he had met Justice Odek at a golf club and the judge was trying to introduce him to playing golf also, and they were talking about life," the Kisumu MP narrated

"Weird enough, they both died around the same time and also died under the same circumstances," Olago added.

He further stated that Professor Otieno was found in a critical condition while Justice Odek was found dead. This made him conclude that their cause of death might be common.

He went ahead and urged the mourners to come out and say if they know anything about the two deaths. He promised that anyone who will be taken to court will have his representation and that of Rarieda MP and renowned lawyer, Atiende Amollo.

Justice Odek was laid to rest at his native home in Memba Village in Siaya County on December 27, 2019.
