Gusii region was on Tuesday big winner in appointment of Judges to Environment and Lands Court and Employment and Labour Relations Court.
The two courts are established nu law to exclusively deal with cases of land and environment disputes along with those that pertain employment disputes.
Chief Justice David Maraga, who hails from Nyamira, is the chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, which employs and dismisses judges.
Esther Asati, who was director of legal services in Nyamira will be in Environment and Lands court. Similarly, Fred Nyagaka, the Dean School of Law in Kisii University joins her.
Mrs Jackline Mogeni, the wife to Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni, will also join the lands court. Kebira Ocharo, a politician to to speak, will be in employment court.
Law Society of Kenya South Nyanza chair Wilkins Ochoki welcomed the development, arguing that the individuals are competent.
"It's not about where they come from, it's about competence. I thank the JSC and CJ for considering these Kenyans," he said on Tuesday.
Civil rights activist Vincent Omao also lauded recruitment of Esther Asati, arguing that she's the best legal mind county government of Nyamira never listened to.
"Esther always gave professional advise. Nyamira has lost a good legal mind who they never listened to. I wish her all the best," said Mr Omao.
