The sittings which will be conducted from 24th to 29th this month will also see governors from Uasin Gishu, Baringo and Pokot summoned by the County Public Accounts and Investment committee over the 2013/2014 Financial year audit.

The Senate will also hold plenary sessions during this period and listen to petitions from the Health committee from West Pokot County about the health standards in the region.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, Speaker of the Senate Ken Lusaka said they are holding these sittings away from Nairobi so that citizens from other regions will be able to understand what goes on in the Senate.

He also said that the major issues they will discuss in the sittings will include issues that have been raised by locals in the North Rift region such as health and agriculture especially the maize issues.

“We’ve had committees formed who have visited Trans Nzoia, Bungoma and Uasin Gishu counties and a farmers public hearing which will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss problems faced by them in this region," Lusaka told the press at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly buildings.

He further said that the issue of maize is very sensitive and expressed optimism that the ad-hoc  formed will deal with it effectively so that a permanent solution can be found and bring to an end the maize problem in the region.
