Embattled Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has shortly won her battle against the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has handed the vocal MP some reprieve after it temporarily stopped ODM from smoking Jumwa out of the party.
The Monday evening decision was communicated by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal deputy registrar. The tribunal has scheduled an inter-parties hearing on March 8.
This comes after Jumwa vowed to fight her expulsion from the party. ODM National Governing Council (NGC) unanimously voted to have her expelled during the Friday delegates meeting.
“Party NGC unanimously votes to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from the party. The meeting however deferred the decision her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori following his letter of apology to the SG @edwinsifuna in which he apologised to the party for his rebellion,” reads ODM tweet that announced Jumwa’s fate.
However, Jumwa was not happy with the sparing of Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori who the party claimed apologised for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.
“A special National Governing Council meeting in which Hon. Suleiman Dori will appear to present his case following his letter of apology will be held within the next 60 days,” ODM tweeted.
