President Uhuru Kenyatta's event to issue title deeds to residents of the controversial Waitiki land at Shika Adabu, Likoni constituency, Mombasa County, on January 9, 2016 ended up as a shouting match between Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and the then Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.

Joho started the 'trouble' when he accused the President of snubbing him despite the fact that he was in his county.

According to Joho, Uhuru had been in Mombasa for more than two weeks yet he was not told about his presence in the county.

"Even if people in this county are from the other side (opposition), it is not fair to stay within for more than 16 days without he governor knowing. I just hear that the President has been at the ferry, I am not aware. I only read in the newspapers," Joho said as Uhuru and DP Ruto listened.

When invited to speak, Sonko took the Governor head-on and accused him of disrespecting the President.

"Whenever the President visits, he always invites you to his functions. You should ask yourself why you have been sidelined this time round. Because you have bad manners of blackmailing the President," said angry Sonko.
