A family in Omono village in Borabu North, Nyamira County is yet to come to terms after unknown people poisoned two bulls to death on Tuesday night.
Jacob Kumenda said he woke up on Wednesday morning to go to the farm when he found the bulls dead.
"I woke up on Wednesday 4am to go to the farm with the bulls. I realized they were unable to wake up from the cowshed. I alerted family members who came to witness the incident," said Kumenda.
He said efforts to wake up the bulls were in vain.
"We tried to wake the bulls up in vain. A local veterinary officer Raphael Oucho confirmed that the bulls died of poison," said Kumenda.
Area assistant chief Moige Gisemba said probe has commenced to know who might have poisoned the bulls.
"People should stop being jealous of others. Anyone with information about the poisoning of the bulls should report to my office and I will not disclose their names," said the chief.
He said the bulls were buried because locals could not feed on the meat. Such meat is not suitable for human consumption.
