Pastor James Maina Ng'ang'a of the Neno Evangelism in Nairobi is a household name and is also not new to controversy.
Pastor Ng'ang'a is among wealthy and famous preachers in the city with thousands of followers.
The preacher was recently acquitted of charges relating to dangerous driving that led to the death of a woman along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in 2015.
However, the Director of Public Prosecutions has revived the case in an appeal filed at the Kiambu Law Courts.
The DPP says that Ng'ang'a and three other people did not deserve to be acquitted and wants the case to start afresh.
But who is Pastor James Ng'ang'a ?
The Neno Evangelism preacher was raised in humble backgrounds and started off as a street preacher in Mombasa.
Ng'ang'a used to preach on the streets in Mombasa after he was released from prison in the 1990s.
The city preacher started his ministry after being freed from the Shimo La Tewa and used to cycle from one street to the other to preach the gospel.
Ng'ang'a says that he would also conduct crusades and preach in open air markets.
The preacher had been jailed at the Shimo La Tewa after he was found guilty of robbery with violence.
He was freed after completing his eight-year jail term.
Ng'ang'a says that he has served in jail 21 years cumulatively after being jailed earlier at Kamiti and Naivasha.
The preacher has never shied away from sharing his past and was once quoted saying that prison is like his second home.
In 2001, Pastor Ng'ang'a relocated to Nairobi where he would appear on TV stations programs preaching.
He continued with street preaching as his followers increased.
Pastor Ng'ang'a later bought a piece of land and built the famous Neno Evangelism center in Nairobi.
The preacher says that his journey to where he is today has not been easy.
"I used to hawk gospel music CDs to get food, transport and save, " the controversial preacher says.
Pastor Ng'ang'a says that his mission is to spread the gospel and that he will not fall to propaganda being peddled around his life.
The Neno evangelism is now among famous city preachers.
