Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Friday morning, the opposition parliamentarian urged Kenyans to shun the DP and ignore his stand on the referendum calls.

Instead, he asked them to rally behind opposition leader Raila Odinga who was the first person to initiate the referendum issue after his truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta last year.

"Let me just tell Kenyans that on the question of constitutional reforms, the person to listen to is Raila Odinga, not William Ruto," he noted.

Ruto who was initially completely opposed to the changes seems to have softened his heart and recently picked a few clauses he wants changes in the possible referendum.

Speaking at the Chatham House conference in London, Britain last week, the DP proposed the introduction of the official leader of opposition slot in parliament.

However, Raila and team are on the other hand pushing for a number of changes, among them the expansion of the executive to house more leaders for ethnic inclusion and balancing.

They also want the reintroduction of the parliamentary governance system from the current presidential one, proposals seemingly enjoying Uhuru's backing.

However, the date and questions to be addressed in the referendum are yet to be presented to Kenyans.
