Through an executive circular, Matiang'i was on Tuesday elevated to the powerful committee, in a move that could ignite political fireworks across the country over President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession.

County MP Jerusha Momanyi welcomed the move, saying that the minister has been a key pillar in Jubilee government given his strict approach to issues in all ministries he has served.

"That was a perfect elevation and I think we shall now have some good coordination. The committee was long over due but now that it's in place, we are very thankful," she said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Jubilee Youth Leader George Mosiori who said the minister will help the party to fulfill it's election pledges systematically in the coming days.

"This is a bold move. We need to fulfill pledges as a party and Matiang'i is at a good position to do that. I know some people are politicising it but that's not the case."

Former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said the Jubilee government has an obligation to work positively for the people by implementation of real projects.

"For a long time, I have complained of ghost projects. Hopefully Matiang'i will give accurate information on the same projects. That's what we have to do."
