The government, through its spokesman, Colonel Cyrus Oguna has confirmed that seven pupils are dead after their classroom collapsed at Precious Talent School in Nairobi on Monday at around 6.50 am.

Speaking on Monday morning after the tragedy, Oguna said that the government will cater for the injured pupils who were taken to Kenyatta National Referral Hospital for treatment. 

“Following the collapse of the building here, there have been 57 students that have been taken to hospital for treatment and we can also confirm that there have been 7 fatalities. This is a private school and for those who have been taken to hospital, the government is going to ensure that they get medical treatment,” said Oguna.

Oguna further noted that a comprehensive statement is going to be given by the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha concerning the incident. 

Various leaders have come out to mourn the death of the seven pupils. 

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula mourned the children. He further directed that care must be ensured when constructing such buildings. 

"Its a terrible tragedy losing school children at Precious Talent School, Ngong Road. My condolences to the bereaved. We must ensure the highest safety standards in all buildings in the country. Those who do shoddy work must be held to account," said Wetangula.
